After a successful MTN Apps Challenge rewarding developers with over GHS300,000 in cash prizes in March this year, MTN has launched a hackathon, this time quite specifically for Mobile Money. If you’re a mobile developer who’s got some time and some fintech ideas to spare, this seems like a good opportunity. All you have to do is to build an app that allows event organisers to mobilize and track their cash.
This new mini App Challenge will be active within the next 3 or so weeks as the deadline is on 14th August. Come to think of it, that’s quite a short time span to build something huge, but seeing that it’s a hackathon, MVPs are highly encouraged.

In other development, it looks like MTN has chosen August as Mobile Money (MoMo) month. If this is anything to think on, it’s likely the hackathon has come to stay and will be happening every August.
