Several conferences across the globe, talk about different trends in media, tech and business. Social Media Week is one of such organisations, with country-specific conferences, which focus of the intersection of media, business and tech. And it’s coming to Accra in the coming week.
The Social Media Week train stops in Accra this year for the first time in September. As a cosmopolitan city, home to thousands of Ghanaians and other Africans, the city is fast growing into a media and business hotspot on the continent.
As more and more brands pitch camps and find ways to live their unique Ghanaian stories, Social Media Week, the Accra edition will introduce brands to industry players and influencers on how to leverage their power and clout, students to learn as well as create opportunities while empowering the next generation of innovators, creative thinkers and content providers.
This is what Social Media Week will bring to life on the 11th -15th of September 2017, as scores of volunteers will storm various open markets, helping to set up various businesses online. With a partnership from Facebook and Google Skills for Africa, a directory is going to be created making it easy to find things in very popular locations in Ghana like Kantamanto.
Bringing the businesses online will start on Monday, and end on Friday when SMWiAccra ends. However, within the week, a lot more will be happening as various speakers will be exposing several topics within the main conference dates. Much of the conference-style events will be happening at Silverbird in the Accra Mall. Others, like the opening of the event, will happen at the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange on Monday morning.
