MEST has been a supporter of the tech startup space in Ghana for almost 10 years now. For most of our readers who don’t know how MEST works, this is a brief. The foudation provides a 1-year training program for folks who want to start software companies. Within the program, MEST provides housing for both EITs and Fellows, to help provide a cordial environment for EITs to work and learn together.
Sometime last week, there was a fire in the MEST Hostel, in East Legon, which gutted quite a number of things including laptops, etc. Following that, the team has set up a GoFundMe campaign, to help recover some costs, and to replace some of the belongings.
The project which started last week has already raised $7000 out of the $10,000 goal, and is actually a trending project. Considering the help the tech school has been over the past few years, this is a good time for all to show support.
On October 25, the hostel where the Entrepreneurs in Training (EITs) from the Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) were staying at was severely damaged in a fire.
Everyone is safe, but a lot of personal belongings were lost in the fire such as laptops, mobile phones, clothing and other personal belongings.
The MEST Community together with the EITs, have started this campaign to assist the EITs to replace these essential items lost in the fire and have them back up at full capacity. All donations will go directly towards replacing these essential items. MEST continues to cover all costs for accommodations, and those affected have been relocated.
We urge you to join us in our support of the EIT’s recovery efforts by donating to help those affected by this event.
Once again, here’s how to support.
